Our approach:
Hollywood is not the enemy, and advocating censorship is not a solution. Hollywood is full of well-intentioned, socially aware, creative professionals who want to do the right thing, and who don’t like it anymore than the audience does when bad material is produced or when female or minority producers are sidelined. By taking a big picture approach to the entertainment space, engaging content producers AND audience members, we can push the industry out of its rut, one step at a time.
Our campaigns:
We incorporate academic research, industry input, community conversation, and professional experience in deciding what campaigns to pursue. We aim to offer a short list of campaigns at any given time, to focus our efforts and not spread ourselves too thin. There are many groups out there with narrower issue interests where you can get involved further. We are a broad interest group identifying key places across the media representations landscape where our coalition of supporters can have the most impact.
Our strategy:
Identify where the least effort (on the part of both supporters and the campaign target) could create the most good, then make it happen. Other organizations do public awareness campaigns and in-depth research. We do informed, strategic action.
Our promise:
In no more than 5 minutes per month, you can play a part in making the entertainment landscape a better place.
Your involvement:
(1) Support the campaigns that appeal to you. That might mean signing a petition, it might mean making a pledge, or it might mean taking an offline action.
(2) Remember that our ultimate influence is directly related to our size. Recruit friends and professional contacts. Write something in your own voice, or use these network share suggestions --
